How do I get my PC to play audio on my DLP's speakers?
This issue could be caused by a few things, so its important to describe the different ways to connect your GPU to your DLP. Using the HDMI connector on the GPU to plug directly into the DLP HDMI input For this configuration, check to make sure that you have connected the S/PDIF connector from the motherboard to the GPU. Please check with your motherboard manufacturer to ensure it has the correct S/PDIF connector. If your motherboard does not have a S/PDIF connector and you wish to use the analog output on your motherboard to connect to the DLP, follow the instructions in Using the DVI connector on the GPU to plug directly into the DLP below. Using the DVI connector on the GPU to plug directly into the DLP using a DVI to HDMI adapter 3D Vision ships with a DVI to HDMI connector that can be used to connect to the HDMI input on the DLP. In order to connect analog audio from your PC to the analog input on the television to use the television's speakers, follow these instructions: 1. Download the 3D Vision DLP Hotfix. · Windows Vista 32-bit DLP Hotfix · Windows Vista 64-bit DLP Hotfix 2. Connect your PC's analog audio into the analog input on the back of your DLP. Make sure you are running this as an Administrator on your PC 4. Follow the onscreen instructions to disable HDMI audio. Note that this DLP Hotfix will also toggle the HDTV Resize Desktop compatibility mode. For more information on that mode, please read this Knowledge Base article. 5. Reboot your PC. 6. If your DLP requires any changes to its settings, use your DLP remote to configure the audio input. 7. Start up your media player and adjust the volume to a comfortable level.
How do I fix missing sections of the image when using Windows in 1080p?
This is called overscan mode and is a common mode for DLP televisions set by the HDTV manufacturer. Some televisions have a built in mode called "Reduce" which allows you to view the entire Windows desktop, but this mode is not compatible with stereoscopic 3D gaming. However, NVIDIA has a Resize HDTV function available in the NVIDIA control panel which allows users to view the entire Windows desktop and is compatible with 3D stereoscopic gaming. To enable it, follow these instructions: The options on this Resize HDTV Desktop page appear if you have set the NVIDIA Control Panel View menu to Standard. You can resize the desktop appearing on your HDTV screen if your desktop is extending beyond the viewable display area or the desktop or image is not filling the entire display area. 1.From the NVIDIA Control Panel navigation tree pane, under Video & Television, click Resize HDTV desktop to open the associated page. 2.Click the Resize Desktop button. Use the slider to increase or decrease the size of your desktop/picture until you get the desired result. Update: If you are using the HDTV Resize Desktop function with 3D Vision and it is not working for you, please download the 3D Vision DLP Hotfix.

How do I fix a blurry image on my 3D DLP?
If you see a blurry image in 3D mode on your Samsung or Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV it is most likely due the image not being in the proper 3D format for your 3D DLP HDTV. Please check the following: The Samsung and Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTVs accept a CHECKERBOARD 3D Format that is proprietary to these rear projection 3D DLP products. You must provide it a proper source that is NOT SCALED. Although a 1080p mode may be listed for your device, it may actually require a slightly lower resolution for 3D MODE. An example is certain Samsung 3D DLP HDTVs that run at 1768x992 resolution un-scaled for proper checkerboard 3D.

Explain: NVIDIA Quad Buffered Professional 3D vs GeForce NVIDIA Consumer 3D
In OpenGL, active stereo is explicitly supported through quad buffered stereo as part of the OpenGL API. Quad buffered stereo has the added advantage of enabling stereo-in-a-window while Direct3D APIs do not explicitly support quad buffered stereo. The GeForce driver is specially tuned to deliver active stereo for Direct 3D-based full screen games and 3D movies using the NVIDIA Stereoscopic 3D Movie player software.
Does Stereoscopic Player support tv tuner cards
Yes, 3DTV.at Stereoscopic Player does support TV Tuner Cards. However, it will not convert a 2D signal to 3D. Additionally, if you wish to watch 3D programming, make sure that your TV tuner card support reception of a 3D broadcast signal from your local provider. To open a Live TV Tuner Card signal, open stereoscopic player and goto File->Live Video. Stereoscopic Player comes with a 5 minutes playback free-trial. This means that each time you open any 3D contents, file or video signal, Stereoscopic Player will play for 5 minutes before prompting you to register. We recommend downloading Stereoscopic Player and using it in the trial mode to test your TV Tuner card PRIOR to purchase. Certain Hybrid TV Tuners with non-windows certified drivers (beta or modified drivers) may act un-stable with stereoscopic player. The issue is not with stereoscopic player, it is design to work properly certified windows drivers and hardware.

How do I connect my PC to a 3-D Ready HDTV or 3D projector?
Newer graphics cards have a HDMI port instead of a DVI port. In this case, simply use a HDMI cable to connect the PC directly to the TV. Make sure to consult your TV's manual to check if a specific HDMI input must be used for 'PC' mode. For older graphics cards, the DVI output from the PC's graphics card must be connected to the TV's 3-D compatible HDMI port using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (or a HDMI cable plus a DVI to HDMI adaptor). Be careful to make sure that you use the correct input. Some older Samsung and Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV products may require you to use HDMI input 3 or the HDMI input also labelled as PC input on the back of the 3D DLP HDTV. Some 3D ready projectors may only support 3D on the analog VGA port, for these products you will need a DVI to VGA adaptor for your graphics card. Once properly connect make sure that you have activated a 3D output format within the chosen software on your PC to output in a 3D format that is acceptable by your 3D HDTV. For example, some products may require 3D DLP Checkerboard, 3D 120 Hz frame-sequential, 3D side-by-side at 60Hz or others.

Nvidia 3D Vision Quadro Graphics Boards Support Information
Updated May 2010. NVIDIA® Quadro® professional graphics boards support many stereo display solutions and Quad Buffered OpenGL applications, including NVIDIA 3D Vision glasses and displays. Support for NVIDIA 3D Vision on Quadro graphics boards is available on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Linux both 32 and 64 bit versions. Supported QUADRO Boards: Professional, flicker free, stereo through the on board stereo connector Stereo controlled through USB, occasional flickering of the glasses may occur * VBIOS update may be required, contact your provider. For Quadro boards with a stereo connector, use the 3-pin mini-din to 1/8” stereo cable that comes with the 3D Vision kit to connect the graphics board to the emitter. This cable provides a direct connection from the GPU to the glasses to make sure they are switching at the correct time. DISPLAY SETTINGS Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and enable the OpenGL stereo display method in the “Manage 3D Settings” tab. When connecting to a 3D Vision-Ready LCD, Projector or CRT: For boards with the stereo connector: For boards without the mini-din: Note: If using a 120Hz LCD, make sure the display refresh rate is set at 110Hz or 120Hz. You may do this through the Nvidia Control Panel or through the Windows Desktop settings. When connecting to a 3D capable DLP TV: Turn on stereo under the Stereo-Enable entry

I own an Optoma HD66 projector and want ot know if it will work the XpanD 102 glasses. Also will I need to prchase any additional hardware in order to view DirecTV 3D content when available?
Yes, the X102 glasses work with the 120 Hz 3D DLP projectors such as the Optoma HD66. Concerning DirectTV connectivity, we have not yet recieved an answer from the cable companies regarding support for 120 Hz HDMI 1.3a 3D DLP projectors. Please note that the complication is due to the 3D DLP Projector requiring a 120 Hz page-flipped (frame sequential) 3D input signal and not a checkerboard signal such as the Samsung or Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTVs. This is the case with most all consumer grade 3D DLP Projectors. We currently recommend a PC or 3D BluRay player for use with the 120 Hz 3D DLP projectors. We will provide an update concerning DirectTV 3D support for 120 Hz 3D DLP Projectors in the near future.
Will these glasses work without a 3D DLP projector - What if I just want to use a 3d monitor what glasses are best for that.Or should I just buy a nvidia kit?
The XpanD X102 glasses will work with 3D DLP Projectors and 3D DLP HDTVs such as the 65 inch Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV. If you would like to use a Desktop LCD Monitor you may either purchase a 120Hz 3D LCD + the Nvidia 3D Vision Kit or you may purchase a POLARIZED 3D LCD such as the Zalman or Hyundai and use any circular polarized glasses, such as the Real-D glasses that you recieve in the theater. For the best universal media and gaming support, we recommend Zalman or Hyundai Polarized 3D LCDs. For the most affordable 3D Gaming experience, we recommend the iZ3D 3D LCD. Please note that the iZ3D is NOT THE SAME type of polarization as the Zalman or Hyundai, which is why the iZ3D costs less.
Will XpanD X102 work with both a PC and-or a PS3 signal connected to a 3D DLP projector. Do I need an Nvidia 3D Vision IR Emitter for PC games?
Exact Question: I have purchassed a computer with a GTS 250 nividia video card for 3d games I intend to use a 3d link DLP projector to display the 3d content via a HDMI 1.3a feed. I will also be utilizing a PS3 with HDMI. Will the XpanD 102 work with both feeds. For the Computer feed will i need the IR sender for the Nivida/computer source. Note: Certain 3D DLP Link projectors may have limited OEM support with Nvidia and Sony. Please make sure that your 3D DLP Link enabled projector is officially supported by any hardware mentioned in this post as we were not provided your exact model number. Answer: Yes, you will be able to use the 3D DLP Link glasses from XpanD for your solution. The XpanD X102 glasses will plug and play with your PS3 if your PS3 supports your 3D DLP projector. Additionally, you have the option of either using the Nvidia 3D Vision IR Emitter or not for media and games. However, the Nvidia 3D Vision IR emitter will unlock hardware accelleration of 3D media playback and it will unlock Nvidia 3D Vision Geforce game drivers. Lastly, the Nvidia 3D Vision glasses and XpanD X102 glasses can work concurrently on the same 3D DLP projector without interference. Concerning PC Media and Games support using Nvidia 3D Vision and XpanD X102 together: For 3D Media you have 2 best options: For 3D Games, you have 2 best options: Concerning your hardware:

Can an Acer Aspire AS5738DG 3D laptop run a DLP Link projector? If not is there a laptop that can?
In short - In order to enable your Acer Aspire AS5738DG 3D Notebook for 3D DLP Link projectors at 120 Hz, please read below. The best 120 Hz 3D playback software option with your ATI based laptop: In order to playback 120 Hz 3D for a DLP Link 3D Project, using software page-flipping do the following: IMPORTANT NOTE: Your playback resolution and performance with Stereoscopic Player and the Acer AS5738DG 3D Laptop may be limited due to only currently supporting software-based page-flip method to output 120Hz video to at DLP Link based projector. We suggest that you go to a local store and test a specific 3D DLP projector with stereoscopic player on your laptop prior to making a final purchase. Details - You will experience limited performance with a 3D DLP projector at 120 Hz with your specific laptop. The Acer Laptop can run a DLP Link 120 Hz projector with the right software installed, but due to limited hardware support for ATI chipsets, you may experience performance issues and stuttering with high quality media when the output is set to 120 Hz page-flip 3D. Concerning other possible laptops, we recommend an Nvidia 3D Vision ready laptop for running a DLP Link projector at 120 Hz with hardware acceleration for lossless HD playback. The XpanD X102 glasses will work alongside the Nvidia 3D Vision IR Emitter without interference since the XpanD X102 glasses sync directly with the 3D DLP Link projector.
Does the Acer H5360 3D DLP Projector work with XpanD X102 Glasses?
Exact Question as posted: I have an Acer H5360 projector. It does work with nVidio 3D Vision, in fact it works if the 3D mode is set up as Off, nVidia 3D Vision, or DLP 3D. Have you tested the H5360 with your DLP Link (x102) glasses or received confirmation from others that all is compatible and works? Answer Part 1: The Acer H5360 projector supports the XpanD X102 glasses according to other users and specifications. We have not yet directly tested this model. XpanD X102 glasses can work alongside the Nvidia 3D Vision IR Emitter without interference since the X102 glasses sync directly with the light being released from the 3D DLP Chip between left and right refreshes. For use with XpanD X102 glasses, we recommend selecting DLP 3D in the projector menu, this should not actually interfere with Nvidia 3D Vision, but will enhance DLP Link glasses functionality. Answer Part 2: As far as we know, the H5360 is not checkerboard compatible. The Acer H5360 can recieve a full 720p 120 Hz 3D video signal, making it currently a great home theater 3D projection choice. You will need to provide the Acer H5360 a 720p @ 120 Hz, 1024x768 @ 120 Hz signal for it to operate in 3D mode. We recommend the following 3D video sources:

I own an HDTV that says it supports 120 Hz mode. Is this display compatible with 3D Vision?
There are LCD HDTVs that are on the market that claim to display at 120 to 240 Hz refresh rate. These LCD HDTVs do not claim to be 3D Ready. These type of displays enhance 2D High Definition viewing by using framerate conversion or backlight flashing to convert 60 Hz signals to 120 Hz or above. This technology is incompatible and Not 3D Vision Ready. Shutter-based 3D stereocopy relies on two completely different images (one for each eye) being displayed in alternating order, which requires a PURE 120Hz signal input option that is compatible with the NVIDIA 3D Vision kit. For a list of displays officially supported by Nvidia 3D Vision, consult our FAQ database.

3D is giving me headaches and causing eyestrain - What can I do?
If you are experiencing eyestrain or headaches, it could be due to excessive depth amount or improper convergence setting. Unfortunately, most full feature films such as 3D BluRay discs do not allow for depth adjustment. However, PC based media playback and 3D Video games most always have an adjustment for the amount of depth (separation) and convergence (focal point of the in-to and out-of screen balance of the scene). We recommend to first attempt to adjust the depth: We recommend to adjust the convergence if depth adjustment does not help: Lastly, always consider that virtual stereoscopic viewing places additional fatigue on the muscles that control eye movements. This fatigue will go away with time and is a matter of physical conditioning of your eye muscles. People with faster visual tracking may be able to experience greated depth settings with more comfort than people with slower visual tracking. A good example would be to compare the eyes of a two different professionals: the eyes of a NASCAR driver compared to the eyes a receptionist. Generally speaking, the NASCAR driver will have more exercised and more conditioned eye muscles allowing them to track the motion of objects faster than the receptionist. The NASCAR driver will most likely in all cases have a more pleasant experience than the receptionist when looking at virtual stereoscopic images for the first time.
Warning: If eyestrain and headaches persist, discontinue viewing in stereoscopic 3D mode and consult a physician. Certain physical vision conditions or impairments may cause discomfort when viewing stereoscopic images on a 3D viewing device. Certain physical health conditions may cause shutter-type 3D glasses to be more un-comfortable than polarized-type 3D glasses.

3D Vision Stereoscopic mode is not working - How do I troubleshoot?
Make sure you have activated the IR emitter. Press the green ON/ OFF button on the front of the emitter. The emitter is on when the button is bright green. Check and make sure that stereoscopic 3D is enabled. Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel Set Up Stereoscopic 3D screen. Re-evaluate your setup. Ensure there is direct line-of-sight between the IR emitter and your GeForce 3D Vision glasses at a range of at least 1.5 feet (45cm) or greater. Any obstructions may cause the glasses not to function properly causing the lenses to flicker or turn off. Do not place objects too close or in front of the emitter which could block the signal (e.g. keyboard, coffee mug, etc.). Also, make sure not to place your hand or other objects in front the of the IR receiver on the glasses; located near the front left lens. Run the Setup Wizard to verify your hardware is operating properly. Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel (right click on the desktop). Select Set Up Stereoscopic 3D. Then select Run Setup Wizard from Test Stereoscopic 3D drop down menu. I have separate left and right video files or image sequences. How do I view these in 3-D using TriDef Media Player?
If you have a left-right side-by-side or above-below .avi, you should be able to play these in TriDef Media Player by simply naming the file according to the TriDef naming conventions. If, however, you have separate left and right video files, TriDef Media Player cannot play these directly. You will need to combine the media into a single file. To create a single left-right or above-below .avi file from indivdual left and right videos or image sequences, you need to use a tool, such as Avisynth. Avisynth is a scripting language that provides support for several video input modes and has many processing options. One you have installed the AVISynth program, open up a text editor (eg, Start->Run, enter "notepad.exe"), copy and paste the following 3 lines of AVISynth script, then save the file as "test-ab.avs": left = ImageSource("left/%03d.png",0,99,24.0) The first two lines of the script load the individual left and right frames from a sequence of png files, assuming they are arranged in subdirectories named "left" and "right", with 3 digits specifying the frame number, ie: left/000.png and right/000.png The "0,99,24.0" parameters specify that it starts at frame 0, finishes at frame 99 and is to be played back at 24 frames per second (you should change these parameters as appropriate). Then the StackVertical command places the left and right images together in a single frame (with the left above the right). You can then test whether this .avs file works by right-clicking on it and choosing "Play with TriDef Media Player". The file should now play and you should see the desired 3-D effect. If the 3-D effect is reversed (ie, objects that should appear far away instead look close), then the images have been generated or labelled incorrectly. Either re-generate the image sequences from the correct viewpoints, or move the files from the "left" directory to the "right" directory, and vice versa. If you started with left and right video files instead of image sequences, the lines in the .avs script that contained "ImageSource" should be changed to "DirectShowSource" or "AVISource". ie: left = DirectShowSource("left.mpg") When you have a working .avs file that provides the desired 3-D effect, you should now create a new stand-alone, compressed version of this video. The reason for this is that the .avs solution may require too much CPU power to play back the video at full speed. It also requires that the original left and right image/video files (.png, .mpg, etc) remain available, so you can't just copy the .avs file to another computer. To create this stand-alone video, you can use any video compression tool that accepts .avs files. One such tool is VirtualDub. With VirtualDub, you can open the .avs file, choose compression settings and save the video as "test-ab.avi". Detailed guides on how to use VirtualDub to save XviD AVI files are available on many websites. The resultant .avi file can then be played with TriDef Media Player on any computer that has XviD is installed.
Why do some media files or DVDs not playback smoothly?
Please ensure your system meets the requirements for playback of the media file. Your system may not be capable of playing the selected 3-D Media in its current configuration. Try decreasing the video card's color depth to 16-bit. If you have always had these performance problems, then you may need to upgrade the video card and/or other system components. If your CPU contains multiple cores (eg, Pentium D, AMD Athlon X2), then you may need to update your CPU drivers. Please see the manufaturer's website www.intel.com or www.amd.com. See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article for further information. Alternatively, the machine may not have enough capacity to run 3D media playback software and other applications concurrently. Make sure that no other applications are running , if performance is an issue. Make sure that DMA Mode (Direct Memory Access) is enabled for the Hard Drive. See the Microsoft Windows documentation for information on enabling DMA. The performance of many programs is likely to be poor if you are running a laptop on batteries. It is recommended that movies are played while on mains power. Playing media directly from a CD-ROM or over the network can also affect playback performance and should be avoided if possible.

How can I modify the 3-D effect I am observing in Tridef Software?
In most DDD applications there are two major 3-D settings that you can use to modify the 3-D effect. These are '3-D Scene Depth' and '3-D Focal Point'. The 3-D Scene Depth setting allows you to modify the extent of the 3-D effect. That is, the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in the scene. The 3-D Focal Point setting allows you to position the entire 3-D scene in front of the screen, or behind the screen, or somewhere in between. In effect, as you modify this setting you are choosing which object appears at the screen level (all objects behind this one will appear to be behind the screen).

What is an IR emitter? | |||||||||
An IR emitter is sold with wireless 3-D shutter glasses and essentially provides a method of transmitting the 3-D sync signal to the glasses by sending out an infra-red signal. The IR emitter should be connected to the VESA compliant 3D Sync Out port on the side of the TV. In special circumstances, an IR emitter may not be required for 3D DLP products even if it is stated as required in your 3D DLP product manual. A specific example is that an IR emitter is NOT REQUIRED to use DLP Link 3D shutterglasses such as the Xpand X102 with any 3D DLP HDTV or Projector product.
Where can I buy compatible 3-D shutter glasses?
| |||||||||
How can I tell if my shutter glasses are working?
Due to the speed with which the glasses shutter (60 times/sec per eye) it is not possible to see the shuttering process with the naked eye. However, the glasses will appear darker when they are actively shuttering. A simple way to determine if the glasses are working is to remove the 3-D sync signal. For wired glasses this simply involves removing the connector from the "3D Sync Out" port. For wireless glasses a simple method is to obscure the IR receiver in the center of the glasses. Once the 3-D sync signal is removed the glasses should transmit more light than when when the 3-D sync signal is present.

What is a Tridef Game Profile?
Game profiles are used to configure the core 3-D game driver to work optimally with a specific game. If there is no specific profile for your game simply select the "Generic (DDD)" profile. A number of DDD certified profiles come pre-packaged with the TriDef Ignition, these include the string "(DDD)" in the profile name. In addition, there are also a number of Beta game profiles "(BETA)", which have undergone less rigorous testing. When adding a new game, please check to see if a specific profile already exists for this game. Users can modify game profiles through the in-game on-screen-display (see below). Once the user has modified the game profile it will be saved. TriDef Game Profiles are designed to be modified and shared by users. You can find a bulk package of additional pre-set Tridef Game Profiles that have been configured fully by TRU3D on the TRU3D website listing for the Tridef 3D Experience. In future releases of TriDef Ignition, advanced tools will be provided to those users who want to fine tune the 3-D appearance and performance of their favourite games.
