Newer graphics cards have a HDMI port instead of a DVI port. In this case, simply use a HDMI cable to connect the PC directly to the TV.  Make sure to consult your TV's manual to check if a specific HDMI input must be used for 'PC' mode.

For older graphics cards, the DVI output from the PC's graphics card must be connected to the TV's 3-D compatible HDMI port using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (or a HDMI cable plus a DVI to HDMI adaptor).  Be careful to make sure that you use the correct input.  Some older Samsung and Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV products may require you to use HDMI input 3 or the HDMI input also labelled as PC input on the back of the 3D DLP HDTV.  Some 3D ready projectors may only support 3D on the analog VGA port, for these products you will need a DVI to VGA adaptor for your graphics card. 

Once properly connect make sure that you have activated a 3D output format within the chosen software on your PC to output in a 3D format that is acceptable by your 3D HDTV. For example, some products may require 3D DLP Checkerboard, 3D 120 Hz frame-sequential, 3D side-by-side at 60Hz or others.

The Samsung 3D Blu-Ray Player BD-C9000 does NOT support Samung 3D DLP HDTV.

The Samsung 3D Blu-Ray Player BD-C9000 does NOT support Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV.

The Samsung 3D Blu-Ray Player BD-C9000 does NOT support the 3D TV Adapter KIT for Samsung 3D DLP HDTV. 

The Samsung 3D Blu-Ray Player BD-C9000 does NOT support the Mitusbishi 3DA-1 and Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV together.

The Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray players listed on the TRU3D site allow for 3D DLP Checkerboard output manual over-ride in the menu settings of the Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray player.

The tutorial below will allow you to immediately be able to watch 3D MOVIES on your Playstation 3, Today on any 3D TV without requiring the 3D mode on the Playstation 3 and without requiring any special 3D playback support on the PlayStation 3!  How is this possible?  Quite simply if you have intermediate 3D knowledge and basic video encoding experience.

This approach uses 3 simple rules:

1. Use a media format already supported as 2D video on the Playstation 3 such as Divx
2. Prepare your media in above / below or side-by-side 3D Format
3. Select Above/below or Side-by-Side Input format on your 3D TV or 3D Adapter.

This tutorial requires a base knowledge of 3D formats and divx encoding on PC or MAC.

This does not require that your activate any special 3D Mode your PlayStation 3.

This does not require any special media player on the Playstation 3 or any Special 3D Support Enhancements on your Playstation 3. It uses the built in DivX media playback capabilities and also the features built in to your new 3D TV or 3D Adapter KIT.

This is a simple guide that can be used to pre-format and watch 3D movies on your Playstation 3, if you have some computing skills and know how to do basic 3D video formatting and file encoding.

Enable DivX support under the video settings (Free) on your PS3 and apply all firmware updates.

You will have to encode the videos as DivX HD1080p file or similar for playback support at 1080p on PS3, check your PS3 model and if you have upgraded your HDD to a SSD or 7,200 rmp then you may get better than recommended bitrate and resolution.  You should follow the 3D format guidlines below.

Select your 3D Content Videos (any 3D media file or digital 3D content source).

For 3D playback, pre-format your stereoscopic media as either:

1. 1080p above/below at half-height with left view on top for 1920x540 per eye base 3D resolution
2. 1080p side-by-side at half-width with left eye first for 960x540 per eye base 3D resolution

You may use one of many free stereoscopic movie maker programs to reformat the 3D layout and then use DivX PLUS Converter or other to quickly encode the files into a DivX file.  Bit rate settings and extension type will depend upon what is currently supported on your model of PS 3 and firmware version.

Deliver the DivX files to your PS3 (many options):

1. Share over the network
2. Burn to DVD Disc as DivX files
3. Burn as DivX disc with Menus
4. Copy to PS3 Hard-drive
5. Use External USB Hard Drive

For Playback on a newer 3D TV:

IF you have a newer model Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG, Hyundai or other model with select-able 3D input formats:

1) Goto your 3D TV menu and select the 3D input format to be above/below or side-by-side according to how it was encoded
2) On the PS3, Open the DivX video according to how it was delivered above (disc, USB, NetShare, etc)
3) Begin playback or pause (you will see an above/below or side-by-side image)
3) Activate 3D on your 3D TV
4) Turn on  your 3D Glasses
5) Enjoy

If you have a 3D DLP HDTV (rear projection Samsung or Mitsubishi)

1) Purchase a Mitusbishi 3DA-1 or the 3D TV Adapter KIT for Samsung DLP
2) Install the 3D Adapter in-between the PS3 and DLP HDTV HDMI Input #3
3) Turn on All Devices
4) On the PS3, Open the DivX video according to how it was delivered above (disc, USB, NetShare, etc)
5) Begin playback or pause (you will see an above/below or side-by-side image)
6) Press the 3D mode button on the 3D Adapter to select above/below or Side-by-Side
7) Activate 3D on your 3D TV
8) Turn on  your 3D Glasses
9) Enjoy
